Guys 18 years and older are welcome! For MoMENtum SERVES, which are opportunities to serve in our church and greater community, we encourage men to bring their sons, grandsons, nephews, whoever…even if under 18 years old. Safety is critically important to us, and this might mean there are activities that are “opportunity” specific, depending on different requirements.
Nope! Everyone’s welcome and we always encourage guys to invite other guys to join them.
There’s a cost for the Weekend Getaway that would be location and agenda dependent. For Activities such as going to a Pirates game, Ax throwing, or the like, then there would be a cost.
Small Groups determine their own studies so while many study resources are free, if a group chooses to do a particular study requiring the purchase of a study guide, then there might be a small cost.
Overall, we really try to provide large Connection Events and opportunities that have no cost, and are ultimately funded by our MoMENtum budget which is fueled by peoples’ act of worship to God through generous financial giving to Grace Community Church.
Our dress code is the same for our Grace services and any other Grace activity in general. You can wear whatever you’re comfortable in! We’re very casual so please feel free to dress casually. Unless you’re more comfortable in a coat and tie, you are more than welcome to dress up. You are always welcome, regardless of what you wear.
You’ve taken a great step by checking out what we have to share on the MoMENtum pages of our Grace website! For more information and questions, email momentum@mygcc.org and a team member will respond to you promptly.
Grace has offered men’s small groups from the start of Grace Community Church in 2001. We originally hosted a monthly men’s breakfast for years, that season passed and we were asking God for guidance as to what He wanted us to do and how He wanted us to do it. In the winter of 2017, about 10 guys formed a planning team and decided on a men’s Weekend Getaway at the end of September 2017 at Wisp Resort, outside of Deep Creek, Maryland that aligned with the unique Grace culture.
After enjoying the time getting to know each other and building relationships amongst the planning team, over 50 guys connected in the mountains for this big experiment. They got to experience various sessions to know God better and to love Him more, get to know other guys and build relationships during small group time, free time, and even during golfing and other activities.
How did the name MoMENtum come about? While guys were driving home from that weekend, reflecting on how God was meeting a bunch of guys where they were in such an authentic transparent way, one guy had typed, “Men, how do we keep this momentum going?” That’s all it took! One of the guys, within moments, created and texted a name and logo which is the same one we use today!
